Hours: 5 Hours per Week
Pay: £13.64 per hour
Location: No specific campus; must be able to work across different campuses
Contract: September 2025 – July 2026

Job Purpose
At UWSU, we understand the importance of digital engagement that fosters an online community, create networks, and builds the reputation of our student body. We are looking for Social Media Assistants to create content that resonates with students, educate them on various services at UWSU, celebrate student success stories, and improve engagement across all social media channels. This role is perfect for students looking to gain experience in the world of digital marketing and content creation; you will get first-hand knowledge of working in a marketing and communications team, working collaboratively across teams, improve technical skills, and so much more.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, organise, create and deliver organic content as needed by the communications team by given deadlines.
- responding to content briefs provided by the communications team, assistant will be selected for task based on suitability
- For example: We have a ‘Sip N Paint’ event on 3rd September from 6pm-8pm that we’d like to capture content for. We’d like the video to be a ‘POV’ style video of what’s it like to attend the event. The task is 4 hours, including filming and editing time.
- You will be assigned a project and given a brief for what's expected from you. Projects can vary depending on the needs of the organisation.
- Attend and document key UWSU and student group (sports and societies) events.
- Collect high quality photo and video content that can be used for future promotional materials.
- Capture and edit photo and video content in accordance with the social media content plan.
- Confident speaking in front of camera with the ability to explain topics in a coherent manner.
